A Still Moment - Jack Woodward
A Still Moment. Description: This piece is a study of temperature and light on the human form, focusing on the balance between mysterious darks and warm light. The intent was to capture a quiet, solitary moment where the light wraps around the curves of the form, pulling it out of the shadow. Artist Statement
My background in engineering has taught me how to observe closely and solve complex problems. When I needed a creative outlet that would fit around a busy career and a young family, I picked up life drawing, which soon opened the door to painting across various mediums. Since I started in 2025, my focus has been split between figurative work and plein air landscape painting. Whether I’m out in the elements trying to capture the shifting light of a landscape or working from a live model, my goal is to break down what I see and reassemble it to tell a clear, authentic story.
