Aerosis - Suzanne Barrett

Aerosis is inspired by days spent at the beach, capturing the rhythmic interplay of sea, sky, and shoreline. Inspired by the simple joy and nostalgia of time spent by the water, this piece explores the quiet narratives found where the ocean meets the land. Through layered, expressive brushwork, Aerosis seeks to evoke the sensory experience of the coast—the wind driving thick clouds, gulls being lifted, and the sea whipped into foam. The title alludes to the atmospheric weight of the salt air, inviting the viewer to reconnect with the restorative, timeless power of the natural environment. Each artwork is painted on a stretched canvas, float framed in solid Tasmanian Oak. measuring 30x30cm. 
 
Artist Statement 
 
Suzanne Barrett is an Australian coastal landscape artist who captures the ever-changing beauty of the ocean through evocative, layered seascapes. With a BA in Fine Art and a background in art education, Suzanne works primarily in acrylics and oils to explore the shifting dialogue between movement and stillness. Her intuitive process utilizes soft washes and textured palette knife work to blur the line between realism and abstraction. Inspired by the restorative power of the salt air and rhythmic tides, Suzanne’s work invites viewers to find tranquility and a deep, emotional connection to the sea.
