Artist Statement -
‘Early evening’ – part of a series remembering picnics on the Williams River. That time of the day; other families have left to head home, the wind and the fire have died down, fish occasionally jump to show the river is alive and the moon pops up above the tree line. Should we stay or go? Its such a beautiful time lets cook those last few sausages for dinner. Matisse Artist quality acrylics are combined with Earth Texture from the picnic site. Riverbank mud and river pebbles that have been shaped by years of grinding against each other provide a texture to the canvas that you can feel. Lightly run your fingers over the texture and be instantly transported back to the picnic site, sitting on the edge of the flowing stream. The light is gone, time to pack up and go home.
