Form and Fire - Jack Woodward
Form and Fire. Description: Focusing on the natural beauty of the female form, the intent of this piece was to capture the weight, presence and natural architecture of the body. Keeping the face anonymous allowsform to be the real hero of the painting, while the bold and bright highlight lines help to separate the figure from the background. It is a celebration of the body exactly as it is – raw, powerful, and real. Each artwork is painted on a stretched canvas, float framed in solid Tasmanian Oak. measuring 30x30cm.
Artist Statement
My background in engineering has taught me how to observe closely and solve complex problems. When I needed a creative outlet that would fit around a busy career and a young family, I picked up life drawing, which soon opened the door to painting across various mediums. Since I started in 2025, my focus has been split between figurative work and plein air landscape painting. Whether I’m out in the elements trying to capture the shifting light of a landscape or working from a live model, my goal is to break down what I see and reassemble it to tell a clear, authentic story.
