Artist Statement
This work is a collage of cyanotype prints, created using natural elements gathered from the schoolyard - leaves, grasses and flowers, each leaving its own impression through the process of exposure to light.
I was fortunate to be Amber’s primary school art teacher, and these cyanotypes were made during the years she attended the school. I happened to keep some of the printed fragments and, through collage, I have pieced these together. The fragments carry with them traces of place, time and memory. This original A5 artwork has been kindly donated by the artist to form part of our charity exhibition, Art for Amber.
 
Art for Amber has been organised by Tomaree High School student Mikaylah Thomas to raise funds and awareness for Amber’s White Light, a charity dedicated to supporting research into complex youth mental illness and suicide prevention.
 
Every artwork in this exhibition has been generously donated by the artist, with 100% of proceeds from the sale of the artwork donated to this important cause.
